Big day for Microsoft

by JosephTBrdly on October 28th, 2008

Today was a big day at the PDC: Microsoft showed off its fancy new UI for Windows 7 (a name I love for its simplicity, btw), and also announced a new version of it’s OS that is designed to work in the “cloud” named Azure. Unless you’ve been ignoring all of the news, you’ve most likely seen the screenshots from either Neowin, Paul Thurrot’s site, or PC Mag. What you might not know, however, is that Steven also demoed W7 running on a NetBook. Pretty impressive, for a successor to an OS blamed for being incredibly slow on even the best of computers. Steven also offers his view on why people haven’t moved to Vista as fast.

Microsoft also unveiled a slew of other updates or new services, including the Live Framework Tools for Visual Studio, which will let developers develop applications that take advantage of Live Mesh. Pretty exciting stuff!
